THE BREAKER
The older I get, the quieter I become. It’s not because I don’t have things to say. My thoughts can fill volumes. It is more that I am finally aware of society’s greater need for a special openness that only intentionally-silent presence can provide. Recently, I have prayed for the ability to quiet my thoughts in order to provide such a holy presence to myself and the world.
Today’s world has become so cluttered with advice, mantras, affirmations, and opinions that we have almost erased that chasm of potential that comes from listening, from space, from boredom, and quietude. Love often disappears in the noise.
On a side note, I have begun open recitations around town. These free events provide a quiet, focused space to receive my work as it was intended.
The next event will be tomorrow night at the Town of James Island cultural center starting at 7 PM and then a special event for just poets will be held next Monday July 27th from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM at the Baxter-Patrick Library on Grimball Rd, James Island.
A free copy of THE PLAY will be made available to the first 25 people who attend this event.
Keep swimming friends. The water here is for all of us.
